A launch goes wrong quietly: a form that never sends, a page that redirects to nowhere, an analytics tag that was never switched on. Run this list the day before and you will catch all of it.
On a phone
- Load every page on a real phone over mobile data, not wifi. If the first screen takes more than two seconds to appear, find out why before launch.
- Tap every button and link with your thumb. Anything you have to aim at is too small.
- Fill in every form on the phone and confirm the email arrives, including the spam folder check.
Search and tracking
- Every page has its own title and description, written for a person, not a robot.
- Analytics is installed and actually recording. Open the live report while you click around.
- Your Google Business Profile points at the new site and the opening hours match.
- Old addresses redirect to new ones. Every page that used to exist should land somewhere sensible, not on a 404.
Trust and safety
- The padlock shows on every page. Mixed content warnings cost enquiries.
- Privacy policy and terms are live and say what you actually do with people’s details.
- The 404 page helps. Header, footer, a way back, and a few links to the pages people wanted.
Ownership
- A backup exists and you know where it is and how to restore it.
- Domain, hosting, analytics and editor logins are in your name, with your recovery email. This is the one people regret skipping.
Every Burvic build runs this list before the client sees the site, and again on launch morning. If you are launching with someone else, send them the list; a good agency will be glad you did.
