A roleplay city whose website runs the front door

Rogue Roleplay is a Melbourne-based FiveM roleplay city with whitelisted emergency services and a staff team that reads every application. Its website has real work to do: sign players in, take applications, manage characters and keep the city informed.

The problem

A serious roleplay community lives or dies on its onboarding. Applications arriving as Discord messages, characters tracked by hand and rules scattered across channels mean staff spend their evenings on admin instead of running the city, and good applicants slip through the cracks.

What we did

  • A community site built around Discord sign-in, so players use the account they already have
  • Whitelisted role applications for Melbourne Police and Ambulance Melbourne, read by people rather than bots
  • Character management for each player, in one place instead of a spreadsheet
  • City news and updates published from the site, not buried in a channel
  • Support and staff pages so the people who answer are easy to reach
